News Update from Zuggy

Hey guys, I know it’s been a while since my last major news update, but I just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up as to what’s been going on, future plans, projects, etc. So let’s hit!
First off, for those of you who have been trying to access either ZugGaming.com or it’s sister site, DominateWoWGold.com, within the past 2 weeks or so you may have noticed the site was very slow to load or would not load at all. This was due to a continuous DDoS (distrubuted denial of service attack) that had been going on for nearly the last 2 weeks. In non-nerd speak…someone used thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) of computers to attack my server, causing insane load times and in some cases bringing my server offline.
As of now I’ve managed to stop the attacks, so /cross fingers that we won’t be attacked again. I do apologize if you were unable to access my site to view guides or other materials during this down time.
Secondly, I know my postings have been much less than I normally do. The past few months have just been pretty crazy for me, so I’ve had to take an extended break from WoW and the site. However, as things are finally getting a little more manageable I’ll be back to my regular posting schedule.
In the next weeks and months to come I’ll be releasing a series of guides, strategy, techniques and tactics on such topics as…

Zuggy’s Insider’s Gold Domination – Now Live!

Just minutes ago my newest WoW community project, Zuggy’s Insider’s Gold Domination, went live. This new website is designed as the ultimate community portal for mastering the art of gold making. I’ve spent months developing the resources and systems so that information and strategies can be shared and discussed faster and easier than ever before.

With my new community I’ve made the decision to go member’s only. This decision was made in part as a means to fund the increasing costs of hosting (due to the large number of high quality videos soaking up massive bandwidth) and to help fund future developments for the site.
To facilitate as open a membership as possible I’m trying to keep membership fees as low as possible.

Zuggy’s Insider’s Club – 72 Hours Away!
Big announcement this morning…with most major code now complete and content uploaded I’m initiating the 72 hour count down for my newest WoW project, Zuggy’s Insider’s Gold Domination…so I ask you, are you ready for glory?
My current launch date for this new WoW community is this Thursday, April 2nd, 2009, 12:01 am CST. Now, there’s always a chance this date might be pushed back…but I’m doing everything I can to make sure we can go live this Thursday. Classic WoW Zuggy Video!

Hey guys, while this certainly doesnt’ fall into line with my “usual” post, I managed to come across some really old video footage that I thought might get a few laughs. Both of these videos were shot in my first real raiding guild, Entropy of Smolderthorn. This was my raiding guild during the majority of classic WoW and I’m still playing with a good chunk of the same guys today. Both of these videos are fairly short (2 minutes each).
This first video is our guild’s first Ragnaros kill (keep an eye out at 1:00…there’s a shot of 1.0 Zuggy!) and the second video is from our first Onyxia kill. Enjoy!

Announcing Zuggy’s Insider’s Gold Domination!

Update: launch date confirmed, Thursday, April 2nd, 2009, 12:01 am CST.
Several weeks ago (maybe months?) I mentioned I had started work on a new “secret project”…and now I can finally report said project is closing in on the final stages to completion! My newest project, Zuggy’s Insider’s Gold Domination, is a new community designed to completely streamline the learning process for making crazy amounts of gold in WoW.
My vision for this new website is one of collaboration and the open exchange of ideas, strategies, and techniques never seen before with regards to making gold. I’ve done my best to design this new site with these goals in mind and I’m sure this new community will meet and hopefully exceed my expectations.
Here’s just a short list of the features I’ve got planned for Zuggy’s Insider’s Club…
- Gold Making Video Tutorials with specific and detailed commentary
- Stand alone audio commentaries further explaining strategies

I’ve still got a fair bit of coding and other work to finish up before I’ll be launching this new website. That said, I’m hoping everything will be ready by this weekend. Make sure to check back in a few days, I’ve got a very special launch planned that you don’t want to miss.

Naxxramas Optimization and Daily Blue Posts

Naxxramas Optimization
In our continuing effort to improve the gameplay experience for our players, we’ve recently made optimizations, specifically to Naxxramas performance, based on feedback from players. With these changes, we are carefully monitoring server performance to gauge the change’s success. In addition to that, we would very much like to hear our players’ personal experience in Naxxramas this week. We are asking players to post your feedback in terms of what if any changes in performance you’ve noticed in Naxxramas. Please make sure to include the realm you play on and the time frame you were participating in Naxxramas.
Mana Longevity Issues…also check out my recent break down of upcoming mana regen redesign.
The problem is that there should not be infinite mana classes currently in the game. You should not run OOM every single fight (if you play well). But you should not be able to ignore it either.
For what it’s worth, Resto shamans are often listed as the healer that can run out of mana. Paladins, priests and druids should ideally play a lot more like that. They do seem to run OOM in PvP, but not really in PvE.
More Free Character Moves
Free character moves to Scilla are now closed. Free moves to Winterhoof will be closing today at 5:00 p.m. PST.
Raid User Interface Updates
Our long-term goal is to get rid of the notion of groups within a raid. We want players to be able to organize their UI however they want — by class, by role, alphabetically or whatever. With the overhaul to the buff / debuff system we made a lot of progress towards this goal, but that left us with a few awkward reasons to still put certain players together.
From a high-level, the design is to be in a group. That group can have 5, 10 or 25 max players depending on the content. There shouldn’t be a (weird) notion of being in both a 5 player and 25 player group at the same time. Imagine for a 25-player raid that the UI just shows 25 players.

Best Haircut of Azeroth Contest Winner!
Congratulations to this year’s best haircut of Azeroth….Cream! Cream’s stylish night elf chick clearly WoW’d..pun intended, the Zug Gaming voters and after a close race Cream came away with 25% of the total votes! For his entry Cream is receiving a free 60-day World of Warcraft game card in addition to his own copy of Zuggy’s Gold Mastery Guide.
Not only will he have a few extra IRL gold, but he’ll now have more in-game gold than he knows what to do with!
