WoTLK Honor Gear Prices

For those that have been waiting to hear the dreaded honor point costs of gear ever since Zuggy first talked about it, I logged on the beta realms today to get the scoop.

There are two different sets of honor gear in Wrath of the Lich King for level 80’s to try out. The first set is called the Hateful Gladiator set and that will include pieces that have no arena rating requirement and are accessible to all players who saved up some points as soon as they hit level 80.

Hateful Gladiator Belt - 49600 Honor
Hateful Gladiator Bracer - 31600 Honor
Hateful Gladiator Boots - 49600 Honor
Hateful Gladiator Neck - 38000 Honor
Hateful Gladiator Cloak - 38000 Honor
Hateful Gladiator Ring - 38000 Honor
Medallion of the Horde - 49600 Honor (This has 84 Resiliance)

For the more experienced Gladiator, you can buy Deadly Gladiator gear with the following amount of honor and credentials:

Deadly Gladiator Belt - 62000 Honor and 1630 Personal Rating
Deadly Gladiator Bracer - 39400 Honor and 1660 Personal Rating
Deadly Gladiator Boots - 62000 Honor and 1720 Personal Rating
Deadly Gladiator Neck - 47400 Honor and 1600 Personal Rating
Deadly Gladiator Cloak - 47400 Honor and 1750 Personal Rating
Deadly Gladiator Ring - 47400 Honor and 1690 Personal Rating

Season 4 End Date Announced!

This afternoon Tigole calmed the fears of many players who thought they were going to lose their Brutal Gladiator titles to triple Retribution Paladin teams by announcing that the end of Season 4 would happen on the day that the 3.0 Patch hits live servers.

We’ve reevaluated certain aspects of how the arena system and current arena season will be affected during both the next content patch, and the launch of Wrath of the Lich King. For starters, the current arena season will end in respect to the ladder upon the release of our next major patch. What this means is, we’ll be taking a snapshot of the current season’s ladder just before the realms are taken down for patch maintenance, and our normal process will commence to determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards.

Teams and ratings will not be wiped at that time, and will carry forward allowing players to earn points each week (and buy gear) until the launch of the expansion on November 13th. Almost immediately before Wrath of the Lich King releases, all arena teams as well as ratings will be wiped and arena charter NPCs disabled.

So there you have it, no need to worry.

New honor items coming in 3.0 patch

After hearing the bad news that honor was going to be reset before Wrath of the Lich King, you may have been wondering what exactly blizzard has in store for it’s honor hoarding subscribers. Today a European blue post released the item names and stats of the new honor gear that players can dump their spare points into before the expansion is released.

Please note that Gems that have been acquired through Honor will no longer be unique-equipped after the release of Patch 3.0.2. Also, they will no longer Bind on Pickup.

WotLK Weapons vs. Burning Crusade Weapons

wotlk weapons In any expansion there is always going to be a distinct shift in what gear is actually worth anything. This was certainly the case when the Burning Crusade was released. Even the very best T3 items from Naxxaramas were quickly replaced during the 60 to 70 leveling process.

Even with very few level 71-80 weapons known it already appears this type of dramatic gear drop off will occur again when Wrath of the Lich King is released this fall. A part of me misses the hardcore raiding scene, but when we get to this point in the expansion and you see all that you’ve worked for has amounted to a better than average piece of leveling gear…well, it hurts.

It’s just nuts to see the very best pieces of Sunwell loot already matched (or close to it) while you’re still leveling.

Also, sorry to all you healers out there. I was unable to locate any healer items, but I’ll keep an eye out.

Season 4 Arena Gear

This post is in response to a question I received regarding season 4 arena gear. It has been posted here to assist other players who may have similar questions in the future.

Arena Gear Question…
When the season 4 gear bcomes available will there be new replacements for the vindicator belt, boots, bracers and neck? With alot of honor points stored up, I wouldn’t want to waste them on vindicator.

Arena Gear Answer…
When season 4 comes out all the current honor gear will be replaced with the new season’s item, I believe the new sets are called “Brutal Gladiator’s…”.

I wouldn’t worry too much about honor points, with as easy as honor is to farm now without diminishing returns and season 4 still probably 6-8 weeks out, we got some time.

Season 4 Start Date Announced

If this season seemed like it’s been going on for an eternity, well that’s because it has. But at long last Blizzard has finally given us the 2 week warning.

We’re currently planning to end the third Arena season and begin Arena Season 4 on June 24, 2008. This exciting Arena season will introduce the Brutal Gladiator set, and will also allow players to purchase Arena Season 2 items using the honor system. Please note that we will be resetting all Arena team and personal ratings. Players will still retain their Arena points and teams with this reset. The team and personal rating will simply be reset to the default 1500, allowing all teams to once again compete for top honors with a fresh start.

Also, with the end of the third season, players on the top teams from each battlegroup will receive their end-of-season rewards. These include Arena-specific titles that they can display proudly until the end of the new season, and, for the best of the best, an Armored Nether Drake. Please also be aware that with the end of the current season, all previous end-of-season titles will be removed.

In addition, in case you missed out on any of the changes headed our way for season 4 I’ve got them all listed below.
