New WotLK Titles

September 21, 2008 by Zuggy · 8 Comments

With the new patch 3.0.2 build on the PTR we are getting a more comprehensive look at all the new titles. You should note that all of these titles are associated with some achievement. After you complete the objectives of the achievement you’ll receive the new title.

When I first heard about the achievements system I was fairly indifferent towards them. However, I really like the idea of providing additional novelty rewards for these achievements. It’s a minor point, and maybe it’s just me…but having these achievements gives the feeling that your character is worth more than just gear.

What do you think about new achievement system? Waste of time? Fun side accomplishment?

WotLK Changes – Recent Blue Posts

September 19, 2008 by Zuggy · Leave a Comment

Quite a few blue posts in the past couple of days with a lot of changes. Check out what’s been hot on the WoW forums lately.

Brewfest 2008 Changes

apologize, but we’re keeping in the implementation as it stands: Horde will receive Kodos and Alliance will get Rams. I realize fully that this is disappointing to many of you, but the decision was made not to homogenize the racial mounts further among factions at this point.

I hope despite this you’ll enjoy the festivities of Brewfest, as the Dark Iron attack is back and there’s new content to explore.

Happy Pirate Day

Yarrrr matey, it be Pirates’ Day! Commoners wearing pirate garb have appeared in all the world’s cities with the news that the Dread Captain DeMeza and her crew have landed in Booty Bay and declared it Pirates’ Day! If you are brave enough to share a drink with her, you may have what it takes to become an honorary crew member for the day. To learn more about this event, check out our new Pirate’s Day page!

Updated Interactive Northrend Map

We’ve just added an interactive map of Northrend to the Wrath of the Lich King website. This map includes information about Northrend’s dungeons, Alliance and Horde settlements, faction bases and neutral cities as well as individual zone maps and screenshots of each region.

Check out the interactive map of Northrend now!

Note on Druid Forms

It’s not going to be in for Lich King. Sorry. Doing an entire animal texture takes a lot more art than a hair change.

But we all agree it’s high time for new druid form art. It’s a high priority after Lich King.

WotLK Arena Gear from PvE?!

September 15, 2008 by Donjo · 4 Comments

Fans of World PvP have been waiting long enough for their favorite place to do battle to have some purpose, and that is just what Blizzard has in store for Lake Wintergrasp in Wrath of the Lich King.  Level 80s who belong to the faction currently controlling Lake Wintergrasp may attempt the new boss, Archavon the Stone Watcher.  The best news of course, other than the fact that it is a single boss instance with no trash mobs, is that he drops Season 5 arena gear!

If you are looking into slaying the 3.4 million HP beast, here is what you may have in store for you:

Tuskarrmageddon Achievement: Seal Cub Clubbin Club

July 23, 2008 by Zuggy · Leave a Comment

So unless you’ve been living under a rock for several weeks then you’re vaguely aware that wrath of the lich king is coming out soon, and one of the newest features is the achievements system. Wrath of the lich king achievements are basically novel rewards for accomplishing something in the game.

Now that something could be winning 10 arena matches in a row, collecting 10,000 gold from quests, or in the case of…

Tuskarrmageddon…

Mindlessly slaughter 1,000,000 Tuskarr.

Reward: Baby Seal Cub

tuskarrNow, beyond the fact that it’s damn hilarious (and potentially a fake) let’s just think about the total time investment this would require. For your reference Tuskarr is a faction that will not be introduced until the the Wrath of the Lich King goes live.

Now let’s assume there are some low level Tuskarr available for you to kill, say level 70-72. You being a level 80 should tear through em fast. For the purpose of this scenario you kill them insanely fast, let’s say you kill and loot one tuskarr every 5 seconds.

5 seconds * 1,000,000 million Tuskarr = 5,000,000 seconds

5,000,000 seconds = 83,333.33 minutes = 1388.88 hours = 57.87 days!

All I can say is it better be one damn cool baby seal cub…

Wrath of the Lich King Achievements System

July 18, 2008 by Zuggy · 2 Comments

wrath of the lich king achievementsOne of the most interesting new features coming out of the for Wrath of the Lich king is the achievements system. The new achievements tab will appear on your character screen and will serve as a permanent marker to your in-game accomplishments when other people inspect you.

Achievements vary dramatically, some are incredibly easy and can be completed in a few minutes, while others may require weeks or months for you to complete all the tasks associated with the task.

WoW Achievement Categories

Feats of Strength

Feats of Strength represent the past glories of Azeroth, and as such, players will find them very difficult — if not impossible — to earn. They’re worth no points, and unlike normal achievements, unearned Feats are not displayed in the achievements interface. Feats include old-world player-vs.-player ranks, obtaining rare mounts, special titles, and more. Feats of Strength will be awarded retroactively (that is, they’ll be immediately granted to your character if you qualify) since many of them will be impossible to earn in Wrath of the Lich King.

Player vs. Player

These include accomplishments related to arena, battlegrounds, and other world PvP scenarios. Here’s a few just for example.

  • Arena Hot streak – win 10 arena matches in a row
  • Alterac Valley All Star – capture towers, graveyards, and kill the enemy leader all in one game
  • City Defender – kill 50 players in your faction’s capital cities

Dungeons and Raids

  • Kill X dungeon boss – every boss, event, dungeon, etc. will have a achievement associated with it

Professions

  • Advancing to each new tier of your professions will function as it’s own achievement

Quests

  • Quest-based achievements include completing a certain number of quests and completing specific quest lines. This category contains zone-specific subcategories.

Events

  • All seasonal events will have associated achievements, mid summer, brewfest, christmas, etc

World Exploration

  • You earn achievements by exploring each zone

Reputation

  • attaining exalted reputation with each faction

General

  • This category could be better summed up as “stupid shit”. These achievements are things like a hair cut, give a /hug, falling off the great lift, etc.

The Violet Eye Reputation Guide

June 30, 2008 by Zuggy · Leave a Comment

the violet eye reputation guideThe Violet Eye is the reputation associated with the 10-man raid instance, Karazhan. Being it’s the first 10-man instance in the Burning Crusade, chances are you’ll be spending plenty of time there. There is a host of great items, patterns, and other rewards you can attain from this faction.

How do I gain reputation with The Violet Eye?
Gaining reputation with the Violet Eye is very straight forward, kill trash mobs and kill the bosses inside of Karazhan. In addition to kill the monsters inside the dungeon you can also complete the few quest chains associated with the dungeon. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you’re looking at it) most of the quest objectives and starting locations are right outside of Karazhan itself.

The first quest you’ll pick up is your ring quest. There are 4 quests, one for each class of ring: healer, damage caster, melee dps, and tank. Each quest has 4 tier of rings you’ll be rewarded with as you gain reputation.

Scryer Reputation Guide

June 21, 2008 by Zuggy · 2 Comments

The scryers are one of two main factions in the Burning Crusade (the other is aldor; aldor reputation guide). Both of these factionsscryers reputation provide great rewards, but as they are at war with each other you can only pick one.

As you gain reputation with the scryers your reputation will go down with the aldor, and vice versa.

How do I choose Scryers?
First things first, you must choose between the aldor and scryers. You do this by talking to Khadgar after you’ve done the Shattrath City intro walk through quest. You can find him in the middle of Shattrath city.

How do you gain reputation with the Scryers?
There are several ways. The most straight forward is by simply doing quests for NPC’s of the Scryer’s faction. These are located throughout the world, and generally speaking they all give loads of experience.

Once you’ve chosen the Scryer faction you can get quests from the Scryer’s tier in shattrath city, and at other scryer outposts in Netherstorm and Shadowmoon Valley.

Initially you’ll be turning in firewing signets. These drop from all of the mobs in Firewing point, located along the eastern edge of Terrokar forest.

scryer reputation farming Once you are honored you can no longer turn in firewing signets, but now you’ll be turning in sunfury signets. Generally speaking, you’ll want to be level 68+ before attempting to farm these. They drop off higher levels monsters in Netherstorm and Shadowmoon valley, so it’s a real pain if you aren’t high enough.

In addition to sunfury signets, you’ll also want to be turning in your arcane tomes

In addition to reputation, you will also get an arcane rune for turning in the tome. This will be used to get the shoulder enchants from the scryers reputation vendor.

Speaking of rewards…let’s move on to the good stuff!

Seer’s Cane – Requires Revered
Scryer’s Bloodgem – Requires Revered

Scryers Shoulder Enchants
One of the main rewards from the scryers faction is the shoulder enchants. There are 2 levels of shoulder enchants, one of honored and one for exalted. In addition to the reputation you must also have arcane runes to purchase the enchants.
