 New DK/Paladin woes (rogue/priest)
My wife and I went from 0 to 2014 rating in week one as disc/mut rogue, and were feeling pretty good about our chances this season. It may have been exceptionally bad luck with queues (we had more than our share of mage/rogue last night, which is still a soft counter to rogue/priest IMO) but for some reason, DK/Paladin started giving us troubles again last night.
Week one, we won at least 95% of our teams vs DK/Paladin. Yesterday, we had to have lost 6 of about 8 games.
I armoried a couple of them and this seems to be the new trend: DK = Unholy spec, Paladin = prot spec wearing holy gear.
What's the issue? If I go on the paladin, the DK can pull me off and chains me at will letting the paladin heal to full easily. The fact that he's prot means I am not doing nearly the damage I could be doing to a holy paladin in the same situation.
If I go on the DK, he sits in frost presence the whole time, tanking me with ease all the while pumping massive damage into either me or my priest. (at least warriors in defensive stance have some reduced damage penalty... DKs don't seem to have quite the same issue sitting in their tanking stance.) It doesn't really matter which of us he is destroying, he can keep plenty of pressure on us so that my wife cannot mana burn, and they just outlast us until she runs OOM, while the paladin is left at 60% or so mana.
There's a lot of complaints about mana burn at the moment, but this type of an outlast comp with the amount of pressure a DK can keep pumping out makes mana burn almost useless. When the paladin is holy, we seem to do fine by just me sitting on the DK and my priest mana burning the paladin as often as possible, so I'm not sure what the big difference is when the paladin is prot.
Any suggestions would be welcomed as to a new way to deal with this matchup. I'm thinking that we have a good shot, and we just had a bad night. The best we did vs them was for me to stick on the DK and play a more combat-style game, keeping S&D and rupture on the DK the whole time. I tried to hit the paladin anytime he was near to get crippling on him for my priest to be able to fear or something, but even doing that perfectly, the whole battle stayed an uphill one from the start.

I hadn't heard about that new prot holy, but that's very interesting.
I think you're on the right track with choosing the more combat style approach. If minimize diseases, keep the DK off your priest, and focus on maximizing your damage output you'll be much better off.
In any regard, attacking a protection paladin is going to end the same way 9/10 times. Better to deal what damage you can to death knight, keep him locked and make it a battle of mana.

 Re: New DK/Paladin woes (rogue/priest)
Well, in frost presence, my mutilates vs a DK are hitting for less than 1000, so its a bit frustrating; its like there's nothing to go after. Prot paladins wearing holy gear seem to be getting a lot more popular lately. They lose their instant heals, but get a little bit of ranged burst with their frisbee thing and of course damage reduction, etc.
I tried a combat build for about 10 games the other day, but didnt fare any better vs. DKs or warriors, so I went back mutilate. I have the fist weapon from Kel 25 and Murder, which is one of the better offhand daggers in the game pre 3.1, but it still wasn't enough to tear through plate.
Vs DK/Paladin, even when they are terrible and can never get away from me, keeping S&D up all the time, double wound poison, and keeping rupture up, and with my wife shielding herself every time its up, its not uncommon for a death knight to double or even triple my damage. I think I'm going to try to play a more defensive game on my end and see if my wife can be more offensive chasing the paladin if I am gouging and kidney shotting the DK every time I can. Maybe if I can turn it into an outlast game instead of a jib game we can do better...
Anyway, we had a rather bad streak last week and dropped to around 1900, but I guess that happens. I guess I'll pick up the s6 mainhand dagger today and see if that helps any.

I think the defensive game is really all you can do. The DK just has so much burst potential if they decided they want to punish you or your priest and catch you w/o any cooldowns you may leave you in a touch situation.
