This is a post from a month or two back that should answer your question. I also bumped it to the top for you.

Just a few brief points...and pardon my bluntness.

1. the only scenario where you'd want to change from elixir master to transmutation would be in the event you simply weren't utilizing the profession enough to get your money's worth out of elixir spec. If you are making flasks with any regularity elixir mastery is infinitely better than transmutation.

2. if you think you have issues making gold with alch / herb then you've really got another thing coming if you actually going to pickup eng. Your ability to make gold via professions will be virtually nill...especially when you consider point 3

3. Your logic for your reasoning behind picking up engineering is fundamentally flawed. You are proposing picking up engineering so you can farm eternals...so that you could turn that eternal, one a day mind you...into a slightly more profitable eternal. When in reality, you could just as easily purchase an eternal of low value and transmute.

Saving you time and gold.

To sum up...your proposition for changing professions would waste your time and put you in an increasingly negative feedback loop in which you'd make fewer and fewer gold per hour.

Hope I wasn't too harsh.

Note the bold...

I understand you don't like farming. In the traditional grinding sense neither do I, which is why I do most of my gold making through professions and the auction house. Never the less, that's no reason to pick up engineering...which is probably next to JC / enchanting the biggest money sink in the game (...no question the biggest money sink if you include the higher level trinkets, helms, armors, etc).

Trust me, you've got so many other options, don't waste your time leveling a profession to engage to an activity which at the very least I would consider counter productive, if not a complete and utter pointless venture.

Well, I never thought I'd suggest someone to do their dailies but...

Do them. It might take you an hour, and 200g an hour is not alot, but picture at the end of the week. And the end of the month.

And honestly, getting an epic mount is just a need that blizzard created in order to push you into playing more. 6k gold can be alot ( especially for you ) and as such, you shouldn't really aim for one. Not only will it take you much time, but also make you feel very unaccomplished.

yer ok i understand now, but there no way im doing daylies thats just as bad as lvling, and i cant find cheap herbs on blackrock,

e.g. 1. stack of litch bloom 98-106g
2. stack of fire leave 96-102g
3. 1 single frost losus 16-22g

so it makes it hard to buy cheap herbs on the ah and tuen into flask and make a big proffit unless i get many procs,

and i understand wat i mean about the enengering making no money, so can u think of anything i can drop herbing for that will proffit me more, with less or no farming required,

thanx for all the advise

If herbs are truly selling as well as you stated in your above post I suggest you suck it up for 30 minutes a day and go herb in the Storm Peaks. You could easily make 400-700g / hour depending on the spawns.

My advice is: keep the professions you have. With less than 200g, there's no way you will be able to level a new profession, and since you seem unwilling to spend any time each week doing anything to make gold, I find it strange that you would be willing to spend a few hours leveling a new profession to a profitable level.

Like Zuggy said, if raw herbs are that expensive, you should be spending a little time picking and selling some herbs. Remember though, that the darkmoon faire is active right now, so herb prices are a little high with people trying to make the deck for the greatness card (I got one on erk yesterday :) ), so check prices again sometime after next wed and the prices might drop quite a bit.

Yeah, what zugg said. Even with a non epic mount, grab a Gatherer addon and get it rolling.
