About Derek
My name is Derek Hales, I am author, editor, and administrator here at Zug Gaming. I’m a full time college student and World of Warcraft player. I started playing WoW during the open beta phase in September of 2004, since that time I’ve been a dedicated player.
I’ve played virtually every aspect of this game, from hardcore raiding where I was part of a guild that ranked top 20 globally for PvE progression during AQ40 / Naxx40, to hardcore arena where my teams peaked as high as top 50 globally in 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 bracket. After years of playing this game to its extremes I’ve taken somewhat of a step back.
Nowadays I consider myself to be much more casual (though still probably hardcore by many player’s standards). I participate in 10 and 25 raids with my guild and still arena, though admittedly I don’t have the same type of 80 hour a week dedication I once had for either.
Primary Characters:
My shaman is currently my primary raiding character. After years of playing only rogue I have simply tired of the rogue’s raiding role. As a result I decided to level my shaman first for WotLK. Currently I’m leveling my rogue in my spare time with the intention of making it a character purely for arena, pvp, and farming. I enjoy both of these characters a lot and have clocked more time on both than I care to admit.
About the Site
I launched ZugGaming.com in July of 2004 with a single goal in mind…help other gamers. I recall when I first started my experience in online gaming, specifically MMORPGs, quite frankly it was daunting. There was so much I didn’t know and there just wasn’t any resources online available. In creating ZugGaming I tried to fill this void by providing new and experienced players with relevant information, strategies, news, guides, videos and more to help them better their gaming experience.
Site Projects
A few months after launching Zug Gaming I also launched the site’s first premium World of Warcraft guide, Zuggy’s Gold Mastery Guide. I released my guide as a means to help other gamers struggling to make enough gold in WoW and also to support Zug Gaming’s web hosting and provide a revenue to fund other projects and contests I run on the site from time to time.
The guide is solely written by myself and explains the exact systemic methodology I use on a day to day basis to make crazy amounts of gold in WoW. My guide is 100% legal and does not violate any of Blizzard’s terms of service, so you’ll never have to worry about getting your account banned.
