Ascendant Council Boss Strategy Guide

ascendant council boss fight strategy guideThe Twilight Ascendant Council is the 3rd encounter of the Bastion of Twilight. This encounter will be a true challenge to many raid groups. It can be a very chaotic fight, requiring handling multiple bosses at once.

Ascendant Council Boss Abilities

Ignacious Abilities

This is the fire elemental council boss.

  • Leap - jumps at a random player and then back to the tank. Leaves a trail of AoE fire on the path of the jump. For this reason you’ll want to stay spread out.
  • Rising Flame – casts a fire shield on himself. This shield does very high AoE damage.

Feludius Abilities

This is the water elemental council boss.

  • Waterlog - randomly casts a frostbolt which applies the waterlog debuff. Slows the target initially and will freeze when Feludius uses glaciate. This debuff is removed by running into the AoE fire trails left by the leap abilities of Ignacious.
  • Glaciate - AoE damage across the entire raid. The further away you are from Feludius the less damage it deals.

Arion Abilities

This is the wind elemental council boss.

  • Call winds – summons cyclone elementals. Being hit by an elemental will deal moderate damage, but also lift you off the floor. You’ll need to use this in order to avoid Terrastra’s Quake abilities.
  • Chain Lightning – standard chain lightning, lots of damage.
  • Thundershock - AoE raid wide damage. You can use Terrastra’s gravity well to reduce this damage.
  • Disperse - disappears and reappears elsewhere in the room. Deals big damage upon reappearing, tank will need to be very quick.

Terrastra Abilities

This is the earth elemental council boss.

  • Gravity Well – will pull you inside and place the grounded debuff on you. This debuff will protect you from Arion’s thundershock ability. These look similar to void zones seen in other encounters. While inside the gravity well you’ll take moderate damage.
  • Quake - AoE raid wide damage. Running into one of Arion’s cyclones will protect you from this damage.
  • Ground Spike – Standard AoE damagee at a specific location. The location of the attack is indicated by moving dust on the floor.

Ascendant Council Boss Fight Strategy Tactics

This encounter is unique in that you will fight a pair of bosses during 2 different phases. The the first 2 waves (where you kill 4 bosses total) you’ll fight a single large boss (all of the 4 smaller elemental bosses combined).

General

  • Throughout the course of this encounter there will be various debuffs across the raid. These need to be removed quickly.

Phase 1

  • One tank picks up Ignacious and the other tank picks up Feludius.
  • You’ll split your DPS off. Melee will attack Ignacious, ranged will focus on Feludius.
  • You may want to assign healers to specific tanks / groups, as it can get chaotic fast.
  • Ignacious will charge raid members at random, watch for this and get out of the AoE fire damage left behind.
  • Ignacious will also cast his fire shield, this needs to be DPS’d down.
  • Always try to interrupt Ignacious’ casts.
  • Feludius will be casting frost nova, move away from this.
  • Feludius also will cast frostbolts that leave the waterlog debuff. You can remove this by standing in Ignacious’ fire wall.
  • Get both Ignacious and Feludius to 25% health, at which point they will despawn.

Phase 2

  • After the first 2 bosses despawn the next 2 will spawn.
  • Ranged DPS and healers should spread out to avoid huge chain lightnings.
  • DPS should focus on Arion.
  • Avoid getting hit by earthquake by getting levitate buff from a cyclone. If you don’t get the buff you will probably die.
  • Prior to tornado (aka thundershock) you need to hop in a voidzone to get a grounded buff.
  • If you don’t have the grounded buff you will probably die.
  • When Arion hits 28% the large combined boss is spawned.

Phase 3

  • You must kite the giant boss around the room.
  • Ranged and healers should spread out as much as possible to reduce chain lightning’s damage.
  • Waterzones and fire will be tosses all over the room, avoid these as much as possible.
  • Periodically raid members will be tossed into the air and will take falling damage. Be prepared to heal.
  • Use all of your cooldowns and burst the boss down as fast as possible.

Ascendant Council Raid Strategy Setup

As you become more geared and comfortable with this fight you can probably use fewer healers.

10-Man Setup

  • 2 Tanks
  • 3 Healers
  • 5 DPS

25-Man Setup

  • 2 Tanks
  • 7 Healers
  • 16 DPS
