Quick Instance facts for the the Violet Hold.
- Name: The Violet Hold
- Location: Dalaran
- Size: 5-Man
- Level: 75-77 (normal), 80 (heroic)
- Difficulties: Normal and Heroic
The Violet Eye is an exciting instance located in the capital city of Northrend, Dalaran. Its design resembles that of Black Morass from The Burning Crusade. Dragonkin and other mobs spawn in a series of 18 waves, with boss waves coming every 6th wave.
While the wave sizes and mob types are always the same, the boss waves can very. There are a total of 6 random bosses and 1 primary boss. Wave 6 and 12 are the two random boss waves. During these waves a dragonkin will spawn and randomly open one of the boss cells. Wae 18 is the final boss and is always the dragon, Cyanigosa.

The Violet Hold Boss Strategies
Erekem - Arakkoa
Normal: Very straight forward fight. If you want to be very careful just tank the boss and kill the 2 adds first, though most groups should have enough DPS to just bomb the boss down while the tank holds aggro on all 3 adds. Neither of the adds nor the boss hit particularly hard.

Moragg - Floating Eyeball
Normal: Another straight forward tank and spank fight. He does occassionally cast a beam that does a fair bit of damage, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Ichoron - Ice Revenant Elemental
Normal: This encounter is very similar to Viscidus from AQ40, for those of you who may remember it. If not, I’ll break it down. The boss comes out with 35 shield charges on him, each of these charges represents one “hit”…ie, one cast, one melee hit, etc. After you break the shield he splits into many smaller elemental orbs.
Each of these smaller orbs represents a chunk of his life. These orbs will all run back to the initial launch point and regroup, each one you kill will reduce his overall health. Once you’ve killed enough orbs (around 30,000 hp) he’ll enrage and you can kill him.

Zuramat the Obliterator - Voidwalker
Normal: Another instance throw back to the Zul’Gurub boss Jin’do the Hexxar. This boss is a pretty standard tank and spank with one interesting aspect. The boss will debuff one player at random, this player can then see small shadowy mobs with 500 hp. Only the debuffed player can see this and must kill all of them that have spawned. They are very easy and should die in one shot.

Xevozz – Ethernal
Normal: The only special think about Xevozz is the elemental sphere he releases. This sphere will pulse and do a few thousand damage to those players too close to it in an AoE (aprx. 5 yards). The tank will need to move him away and other players should be aware of their position.

Lavanthor – Corehound
Normal: Nothing special here, just a standard tank and spank.

Cyanigosa - Dragon (final boss)
Normal: A few things going on here. First thing you’ll want to look out for is the frost breath, it does several thousand damage in a front cone, so make sure you’re standing behind or on the sides. Secondly, Cyanigosa will periodically teleport the entire group on top of her, this causes and aggro wipe, so don’t go too crazy immediatly afterward if you’re a DPS.
