This guide is amazing! Has definately helped, but there is still one class combo we are having a horrific time beating. Shammy/resto druid. With all the cyclones, roots + spell interupts from the shammy, can’t drain them, can barely heal, plus having to dispel everyother second…from a priest point of view its a huge struggle. We faced this team 4Xs and no strategy def/off or mix worked I eventually, died bc my rogue couldn’t help while cc and I couldn’t heal which shocks flying around or I just simply ran out of mana before the other 2…please any suggestions….
I’ll be 100% honest, I’ve played probably close to 5000 arena games since the burning crusade was released…and I have never once played a shaman / restoration druid.
Either way, I think you could just stick on the shaman with the rogue and totem tap + mana burn the druid with the priest.
Yea that was our initial plan. I drained,or tried to drain the druid while my rogue was on shammy and I got totally fucked with spell interupts and cc. we had shammy so close everytime, and the druid to no mana, but their mana regen on eachother with totems and innervate and whatever it just wasn’t working.and I’d run out, at which point our cc runs out and shammy shocks my heals and drinks. I guess I’m just pissed because we lost so many points to this team and still couldn’t figure a way to beat them..not that we would have to deal with the combo much. But damn..we were thrown.
Well, there really is no excuse for getting beat due to innervate. As a priest you have to be aware of that and be able to quickly hit him with a dispel.
Beyond that, I don’t know what else to say. This combo really doesn’t have any synergy. I’ll be pretty blunt here…there’s no much your rogue can do to save you here.
..you are going to be shocked, you are going to get cc’d, and you’re going to be purged…you as the priest need to train yourself to deal with this type of pressure, position yourself accordingly, and maintain your focus long enough to either 1) beat the shaman into submission and / or 2) burn the druid out of mana via burns / heavy damage from your rogue.
Was also wordering how effective a build with points in imp fear, mind flay, etc. would be. Since in 2s, pain suppression kind of becomes obsolete if u are staying on top of ur dps/drains/cc it seems like the extra blackouts and fears could really help, while taking little from ur heals. And I could still pick up reflective shield depending on how the build is…just an idea I’ve heard a lot about..has ur priest ever tried this? Could it be more effective, if only for 2s?? Or is it better just to keep it disc/holy offensive..
Giving up pain suppression would be an exceptionally bad idea. However, you could choose to pickup a few more offensive talent. Here’s the offensive disc build my priest used, http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bxMGzhgtMcqzfzthcb.

Note that I am ShS spec, and we’re only experienced into the 1700’s or so. Our style is slightly more offensive than defensive at the moment, and we have saved a few games with the quicker CDown on Fear. Blackout stun also nice when it procs during Mindflay spam. YMMV
Great guide, Zug. I was wondering what your take is on Fist Weapon Specialization. I currently have both Gladiator Maces, but my Merciless Gladiator’s Right Ripper does quite a bit more damage. Do you think it’s viable to spec into Fist Specialization and then switch to Mace later when I can afford the upgrade? Thanks!
Well, maces are always going to be optimal for rogue + healer 2s. But if you have better fist weapons you could certainly go with fist weapon spec until you’ve got a solid set of maces.
Soo..since my rogue doesn’t play anymore, I joined up with a dreamstate drood (imma disc priest) for fun in 2s and we pretty much owned every combo out there. It was really fun, and we went like 11-1 and the loss was because I used all 40 drinks. is this a viable combo to work with? Even if we are really just cheating the system with double heals :P I’ve only been doin arena since about a month before s4 started, but we both have great gear (I’m at 470 resil and he’s most likely the best drood on our server) I’m just not sure what the most common combos in the highest ratings are. We have 0 probs with any kind of double dps and outlast everyone else in mana easy. Thoughts? Besides that we are annoying. As someone with high rating experience, would it work?
I saw that combo once in a skirmish…I have to admit it was pretty annoying and funny(after the match was over that is) that me and a hunter stranger couldn’t down either opponent. With some DoTs and a fairie fire I had to be really careful with my cloak of skillz. The restokin almost never ran out of mana, and if we tried to tunnel vision it was either shield, ps and PoMs that wasted our burst CD’s or just a ridiculous amount of HoTs. Splitting dps wasn’t a viable option either, as both could heal themselves perfectly fine. I don’t honestly know how far you’ll get, but no doubt an annoying combo.
While it is a novel idea I highly doubt it’d be successful at higher ratings due to the total lack of synergy between the classes. Right now you are winning because you’re simply better players than your opponents, nothing really to do with the fact that priest / druid is a good combo.
I think in the end you’ll just hit teams that know they can gib the priest without the druid really doing anything than healing. Resto-kin as a sole damage dealer isn’t nearly as difficult to deal with as say a rogue.
